Listening Vision Design Development

0. Analysis

We start by listening closely to the needs of our clients, confronting them with the surrounding environment by analyzing the competitors and final users of your project. We organize and manage collaborative workshops which bring together the stakeholders involved in your project. Listening to every single one of them, we try to create a solid base on which to build and share the most fitting scenario for your project.

1. Vision

Vision is an image which comes from the desire for a better world, from a need yet to be satisfied. We nurture your vision until it becomes a strategic projection able to clearly define value, story-telling, premises and positioning. This practice allows us to build images capable of “crystallizing into a well defined, memorable, viable, icastic form” as in Italo Calvino’s definition from Lezioni Americane.

“[...] the power to bring visions into focus with our eyes closed, to cause colors and shapes to spring forth from an array of black characters on a white page, to think through images [...]” Italo Calvino.

2. Design

In the design-phase we connect the strategic projection with the contents in order to gauge their transformation into concrete artifacts. In our understanding of design, contents are fundamental. Their creation and architecture must be able to interact with form, while form must be created carefully around human beings and their environment. That’s the right process to make visions become texts, materials, colors, experiences, sounds and let them have the right shape.

“We can (and must) expose the irrational nature of our environment, [...], it is the fruit of our factual will, and we all, directly or indirectly, create the objects that surround us, which, in turn, are a decisive factor for our human condition.” Tomàs Maldonado

3. Prototyping

The design-phase produces models which are to be transformed into working prototypes. We use them in protected environment to deliver concrete experiences for users, readers, consumers. This process allows us to tackle with problems, changing the design decisions if necessary before facing the delicate phase of development.

4. Development

At this stage, all the previous phases – strategic vision, design, content and prototyping – materialize in a final artifact. To make development more efficient we practise Agile methods. Designers and content editors are available to the team which splits the job into micro-units shared with the client. This is how we monitor development through continuous testing with real users in order to reach the aims which have been fixed for the project quickly and productively.

“When I am working on a problem, I never think about beauty. I think only of how to solve the problem. But when I have finished, if the solution is not beautiful, I know it is wrong.” R. Buckminster Fuller

5. Coaching / teaching

We are happy to share knowledge, skills and passion for our craft. Some tasks require personalized teams to adapt to the client’s specific needs. Our training programs are conceived to guide external or internal teams, introducing them to agile working and letting the project grow autonomously.

“The raison d'etre of libertarian education [...] lies in its drive towards reconciliation. Education must begin with the solution of the teacher-student contradiction, by reconciling the poles of the contradiction so that both are simultaneously teachers and students.” Paulo Freire
